The healing power of therapeutic touch is fundamental to our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Physical isolation and stress are one of the diseases affecting us in the Western world. Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related.

Research continues to show the enormous benefits of touch: from treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders, postural imbalance, injuries, to alleviating the stress and tension of daily life.

Massage and touch has a profound effect on the body and mind.

A 2015 study found that Thai massage significantly reduces levels of a certain stress marker present in the saliva, called sAA.

The Hidden Journey –

This journey into bodywork continues to be a wonderfully fascinating experience. My work is continually developing and changing. The more I learn about the fascia, about chronic pain and its debilitating effects on peoples lives, the more my work develops along this path to meet these conditions and holding patterns.

Every body is profoundly different, every bodies journey through life is profoundly different. Yes I teach anatomy, yes I am aware that are bodies have the same structure, from cells, to tissues, to organs, to systems to the whole body. Yet everybody who has walked in my door over the years, has a different story to tell. Or not to tell…to hold onto.

Sometimes I want to whisper, ‘Where are you hiding your stories?’

Because hidden within our tissues, are a thousand stories. Every impact, physical and/or emotional leaves a mark within us. Holding patterns, self protection building up body armour. Wilhelm Reich coined the term, ‘armouring’.

Reich discovered the basic pulsation in the universe and that healthy organisms and organs have natural expansion and contraction. That life energy pulsates. When we are armoured, our pulsation is interrupted and the movement restricted; the energy flow throughout our body is impeded. We may experience this as a lack of sensation, aliveness, a stiffness or tension. Armour can develop into painful sensation if places in our body have chronic holding or are under-charged. So our physicality speaks as well as our voice. Our armouring reduces our creative capacity, our natural expression of our unique Self.
